Tom re-entered sole practice on May 1, 2010, in an effort to be able to provide clients more affordable legal services with a personal touch. He has spent most of his 33 + years in the practice of law as a sole practitioner or in small group associations.
Tom has been recognized as a leader of his profession and community. Northern Kentucky lawyers selected him as the 2004 ‘Distinguished Lawyer’ and Tom was awarded the Richard Lawrence Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. He is serving as Vice President of the Kentucky Bar Association Board, having served 6 years on its Board of Governors. He has been elected to serve as the KBA President in 2013-14. Tom is a founder and past President of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association and past President of the Kenton County Bar Association.
He is also the Mayor of Erlanger, Kentucky, a city of 18,000 in Northern Kentucky and previously served on its City Council for 13 years. Tom has been elected to other positions of leadership throughout his professional career and, before that, during his formal education at the University of Virginia’s School of Engineering and Applied Science and the University of Kentucky’s College of Law. He teaches in the area of legal ethics as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. Tom has previously been a guest lecturer at the University of Cincinnati College of Law and Thomas More College.
Tom practices in and is recognized in the area of the Law of Lawyering, Ethics and Professional Responsibility. He is selected annually to give seminars, instruction and presentations on the behavior of attorneys and their responsibilities to their Clients, their Courts and their communities. He has been retained to offer legal opinions in controversies involving attorney conduct.
Ever active in his community, Tom is an Elder at Erlanger Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), was an assistant varsity football coach at his alma mater, Lloyd Memorial High School in Erlanger, served a term on its site based council, and speaks to students there regularly. Tom is an avid college football fan, particularly following his Cavaliers, Wildcats, and Bearcats. He also enjoys watching local high school and collegiate teams as they participate in basketball, baseball, and lacrosse. His baseball team is the Cincinnati Reds. Tom enjoys traveling to visit his grandkids as often as possible.
